This video was pretty interesting but didn't have very much to do with science. it just told you how chocolate is made. I give this article a B for not having very much info.

That was very interesting. Now I know how chocolate is made. I thought that it told you everything you needed to know about chocolate. West Africa people must have a lot of money from selling all of the chocolate. I think that it was really cool. I like to know of all the different chocolates. It all looked so luscious and makes me really hungry. I particularly liked to look at the chocolate squares and the parts when the chocolate was actually finalized. It was interesting to see how there were so many different stages to chocolate. I think that whoever has the churning job at a chocolate shop is very lucky because maybe they get to lick it when they are testing if it's done. So yummy!!!

I disagree with Adam and say that it had all the info you could've needed for chocolate and give it a A+++ for deliciousness.

This was an amazing video. It told you how chocolate is made. I knew there was cocoa beans, but I did not know that it was such a complex process. And seeing all that chocolate just made me want to have some. It was really interesting to know that there is science behind chocolate!

I thought that this video was cool and it was interesting to now the facts about how chocolate is made. I think that the tempering process is interesting. I found a few problems with this video. First it made me really hungry and second, I t seemed as though it was more of a commercial than an infomercial about how chocolate is made. There were a few more things about the video that I like. The chocolate looks really good, though I have never heard of the company purdy's chocolate. It was also interesting to know that most of the worlds cocoa plants come from west Africa. The way that they are processed is interesting as well. The amount of shipments that are sent out around the world is also amazing. I wish that the video showed slightly more about how chocolates with fillings are made. I have seen another video like that except they showed the machine that injects fillings into the chocolates and then closes them up. I would also like to know how the make some of their chocolates have designs on the top. I went to a french chocolate shop in London and I got to see them go through the whole process. It was really cool, especially because I got to eat some after. I thought the way that chocolate shops make things with caramel in the inside is quite interesting. Since caramel is so sticky you can't really inject it, they have to hand make them. I also like seeing the machines that make the chocolate. If they put bars of toffee on the machine and when it goes through and comes out the other side it is covered in chocolate, that makes me wonder. Some day, I want to go to a factory that makes the chocolate machines and see what is really happening inside the machines. One other things that I wonder. How does sitting out in the sun make them gain flavor. I wonder how the chocolate business is doing. Is it doing well. If so will it start to decline. Who knoes. I wan't to look up the biggest chocolate company in the world and see how much one stock costs. It would also be interesting to know how much it costs to make the machines that make chocolate. If it is expensive, then would it have to be a big chocolate company to pay for them. I wonder how small chocolate companies survive. Do they not have as nice chocolate, or do they borrow money, for machines, sell a lot of chocolate and then pay the money back. All in all, after watching this video, on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 6.

I loved this video. It was so cool to see how the chocolate was made and also to see how many uses it can do. I know what to try to make my own chocolate. I knew there was cocoa beans but I didn't know that it could make butter also. I think this video teaches you a lot more that just the science behind chocolate. I also think it was cool that the cocoa beans mainly grow in Africa then they are shipped to other countries to become chocolate. All in all this was a really cool video.

OH MY GOD I LOVE CHOCOLATE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS MY FAVORITE FOOD! During the summer, my sister and mom went to Ghana to teach kids and one of the trips they made was to a cocoa factory to see the cocoa trees an the beginning of this process of making chocolate. I have always been obsessed with chocolate and (unsuccessfully) asked for a cocoa tree for all of the past three years. Unfortunately, I was then informed that making chocolate was more than just growing the cocoa pods. This video showed the process very well and now I think, with a few good employees, a big machine, and a lot of time, I could become a very good chocolate maker. I think this was really cool because it shows how everybody's favorite food is made, from growing the beans, drying, shipping, inspecting, and filling the various chocolates. I am wondering if there is different ways to make dark and milk chocolate and a way to use less cocoa. I am also wondering whether somebody has ever intended to make dark/milk/white chocolate, but gotten something different. I wonder how they did. I also am wondering if there are exactly precise amounts that you need to put in, and if so, if you missed the amounts it would come out to something different. I think if this is the case it could be a revolutionary breakthrough in chocolate making if someone messed up and made an amazing chocolate, better than any of the other ones around. I am also wondering how long it takes chocolate, once in the windows to get stale, if no one buys it. Does it take a week? Two? Since it's not in the wrapper I think it wouldn't last very long and they would need to make new chocolate. Also I am wondering the cost of the machines. Are they expensive? If so, this could affect early, young-aged chocolate makers with not enough money to purchase a big machine. I am also wondering if there are companies that just use the machines and then ship them to the chocolate companies or if the chocolate companies buy it themselves. I'm also wondering how big the largest chocolate in the world is. I also want to know what the most expensive chocolate is, who make it, and whether it is just one, or many, many chocolates. I don't know if anybody would buy a really expensive chocolate. I am also wondering what the budget is for chocolate entrepreneurs. I am wondering if they borrow money for the shipping costs from Africa or the machines, or if it would cost little enough for them to cover it with their own budget. I am also wondering how big the average chocolate store's location is worth and how much they would actually need. I think it is interesting what the shipping business is in africa. Is it good for the country? Or are they ripped off by the US, France and other chocolate making nations? On a 1-100 scale I really liked this and would rate it a 93-96.

I now know how chocolate is made.

OMG CHOCOLATE IS THE BEST THING EVER! I love chocolate so much. I actually learned a lot about chocolate I never knew. I did not know that most cacao beans are from west Africa. I also did not know that coco beans go from beans to nibs to mass to powder to butter and then they are all mixed together to make the chocolate we all know and love. I wonder if the process is the same for other brands of chocolate like Dove and Hershey's. They are probably different because they all have different flavors. Chocolate is just an interesting thing because the cacao plants grow things that look like melons. I would never guess that with a little hard work it could become chocolate. I wanted to eat al of that yummy stuff at the end of the video. A+.

Yum! I didn't know that chocolate went through such a difficult process. It's cool how chocolate can be scientific and delicious. The other thing that I like about the video is that it was very clear, and it told me just how to make chocolate. I always thought that making chocolate went through a much easier process than the video that I saw today. I wish I could actually go to the factory and make some of my own chocolate. Yummy! This video has now made me hungry!

First of all.....that looked soooo good. But, I thought it was a very good video, not only because it was delicious, but also because he explained the process extremely well. I give this video a A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ect.

It was a grate video everyone said everything there is to say except that there is science within making chocolate. Temperature, concentration, mixing chemicals and many more. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE CHOCOLATE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!

This was all right, but the whole thing is like a huge advertisement. I agree with Adam, this was not educational. Just told you some useless information on how chocolate was made. It was so appetizing, but so useless. I plan to never become a chocolate scientist, so this article is practically useless. It is cool how they make it, but I think that there could be more useful blog links.

I have always ADORED chocolate. I mean how can you not love it? However I never knew how it was made. I always knew that it started with a cocoa bean. Once I even tried a nib of coca bean and shriveled up in disgust! My lord it was bitter. It is amazing that such a gross, bitter, and highly unattractive nib could be turned into creamy, decadent, lucious, delicious dessert. I found it cool that the cocoa bean providers had to roll the beans in the sun for full flavor. I give this scrumptious video an A+!

I love chocolate. If i could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be chocolate. Dark, milk and white...I love it all. I went to a chocolate store with my mom and met the owner. She explained to me the process of making chocolate. From the picking of the beans to turning them into nibs and then into chocolate. She also explained to me what you add to make the three main types of chocolate. I knew the higher the percentage of cocoa would make the chocolate more bitter and not as sweet. So this video was not new to me at all. The tempering process is very interesting to me. I have to admit this video kind of made my mouth water. I would love to go through the process of making chocolate and see it in person. Overall I give this video an A++++.

Wow, wow, WOW! I didn't know so much work went into the chocolate that you can buy at the store! It takes so little time to buy chocolate, but so much time to make it. I do wonder how many different things you can make with chocolate. The possibilities, now seeing this video, are endless. The chocolate looks SOOOOOO good, and I loved watching this video. The cocoa beans are pretty interesting, because it's funny how something like that turned into a bar of chocolate.

I loved this video!

I love chocolate, so this was super cool.
I would like to start off with saying, boy! This blog teaches me so many cool things.
I NEVER knew that there was anything behind chocolate other then cocoa beans smashed and mixed with milk.
Apparently I was SUPER wrong! Again, this video, like Jonah said, was more of a commercial then an infomercial. They probably posted it so that people would go, "OH! That is so cool so I am going to go and buy 10 million chocolates because it is SOOOOOOOOO COOL! :P" Okay, maybe that is exaggerated, but still it is advertising.
It was cool how they made it and all, but still not much info. Maybe they should talk about the cells in chocolate or something! Overall 1-10 (1 being horrible and 10 being amazing) it was a 7.3.

I am eating chocolate right now! I wonder what other ingredients they put in milk chocolate. I wish they would make a dark chocolate that tastes good... I extremely dislike dark chocolate. I have tasted cacao beans before and it was even more bitter than dark chocolate!!!!! I didn't really know how chocolate was made, but this was like a commercial... It talked about his chocolate company. He was being a little selfish for not saying other chocolate companies... but I don't really care because I don't own a chocolate company. I really wish I did because then I could very stealthily dip my finger and go, "OOPPSS let me get a napkin." and then go to my office filled with Taylor Swift posters and other Taylor Swift stuff and lick the chocolate... Or just steal a couple chocolate bars after the process. OK... Bye!

Sophia siad,

This was quite interesting. But the video is not so much about science but more about how the company only use the best. THE WHOLE THING IS A ADVERTISEMENT. Over all this was not scientific.

Kallie said...

I agree with everyone who said that this was like a commercial. I also agree with everyone who said that it makes them hungry. I think that the most delicious-looking chocolate was the melted chocolate being processed through the big machines. I also wonder how much the machines and the cacao beans cost. This video taught me a little bit about chocolate. I knew that it involved the cacao beans and a bunch of milky ingredients, but I never knew the part about the big machines. Overall, I think this video (on a scale of 1 to 10) would be a 6.5 in information and an 8.8 in delicious-looking.

Emilynne☯ said...

Cool! Still, there wasn't much substance. It's just a bunch of cacao. I hoped that this would maybe give something about the science to chocolate (genetically cloning it maybe?) but it just re-explained the process. He did a really great job of explaining th process though. I have tasted cacao beans before, and they taste HORRIBLE! They are really bitter. What truly gives chocolate its yumminess is the sugar. Also, I agree with everyone who said that this was an advertisment. The "science" to chocolate was bascially just the man saying that at Purdy's they are committed to making the best chocolate, they are so experienced, etc. This would get a 6.8

Wow! This is a cool article! I agree with Annie. originally, I thought that chocolate was smashed beans, sugar and milk. Now I have real facts about the process of chocolate-making. This video taught a lot about chocolate, how it was made, and of course, the science of it. It was very interesting to find out that there were so many steps to make chocolate, and white chocolate had cocoa butter in it. The cocoa pods look really cool. I wonder if there is a different process in making chocolate if it was for different brandsand has different flavors. I love this video!

I AM JUST TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE!!!!!!! I LOVE IT! I pretty much knew all of the science behind chocolate already, since I'm so in lover with I'm interested in how it's made. I knew that cocoa beans where crushed and made into cocoa power, which mixes with milk and sugar and you pretty much got chocolate. I had no idea that you had to get some kind of a crystal formation to make the chocolate perfect, but I guess that you do. White chocolate, on the other hand, tastes so different because there is no cocoa power in it. THere is just cocoa butter, leaving it with its natural white color. This was a really cool video and all, but I wish that i could see how See's chocolate is made. SInce sees had so many fillings, some of them being just liquid, I would be interested in knowing they put chocolate over it and how the filling stays liquid.
Anyways, CHOCOLATE IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!

I think that video was more of a long advertisement than a science video, but it was still interesting to see how chocolate is made. I thought that it was interesting that a flavorless plant can be turned into delicious chocolate. I didn't really see anything I wasn't expecting, although how they made patterns in the chocolate and how the pieces of caramel and chocolate and other things were pushed through a chocolate or caramel "waterfall" to create a chocolate or caramel inside was pretty cool.

Bianca :) said...

I don't necessarily like chocolate so I wasn't that excited about how it looked so yummy :/. But I thought it was interesting how chocolate is made. This is kinda like the roller coaster post, because so many people eat/use these common(ish) things and don't even know all the science behind it. I would give it a A-.
I agree with Aiden that is was more of a advertisement, because they wanted you to know that they make chocolate well and cleanly.

I thought that this was super cool. I love chocolate and thought that the most simple food, a plain old chocolate bar could be made by something so time consuming and important. I thought that this was kind of like the pearl where we talked about irony about how the pearl a beautiful and gorgous thing coud be made from something so painful.
