How Weather Sparks The Flu: It's All About The Humidity

Flu peaks in temperate zones when the humidity is low. In the tropics, it surges when it's humid and rainy.

Sophia siad,

Wow this is really cool. It is amazing that the flu can spread just because of weather. Here is what I learned.

1. The flu season is late winter and spring.
2. That americans think that the flu is caused by cold weather but in some places (like Senegal) it is caused by hot weather.
3. In places where it gets hot and cold seasonally (like North America) the flu breaks out in winter, but where it is hot the flu season is the worst when there is heavy rain.
4. Some theories of why this happen are that the sun is not making enough vitamin D so the human immune system is weak, or it is because humas stay inside more in the winter.
5. In places like Tunisia and Texas people get the flu when I is cold but in places like the philippines and Vietnam the flu spreads when it is hot and rainy.IN subtropical places like Sengal the flu spreads when it is hot and dry.

In conclusion I think that this article is quite interesting and that it had a lot to do with science. I give it a A+.

This article was really cool. I thought the flu spread when it was cold, but I learned that in some cases this isn't true. It's also really cool that in places like Tunisia and Texas the flu spreads when it's cod but in subtropical environments the flu spreads when it's hot and dry. I never imagined hot and dry would be flu weather.

Overall I give this article an A.

This is really interesting! Like Sammie, I thought the flu spread in the cold. Now, I know that depending on the environment you're in, it can actually vary. I had Senegal as my country for multicultural day in room 3, and know that the weather can get extremely hot. It's really cool to know that when you are in places like Senegal, the flu cam spread when it's hot!

Like Sammie and Elle, I thought flu season was only when it was cold. Hot and humid weather, for me, has always been a time to get away from the flu. Now, I know that in some tropical countries it is the opposite! I think that people should become more aware of that when travelling to Senegal and other tropical places because this isn't known by a lot of people. We could have everyone getting the flu. And if everyone gets the flu then they will give the flu to the people that already live there. And who likes it when everyone has the flu? That's right, nobody. And if people don't learn about this soon then there will be a lot more people getting the flu in tropical countries.
