This article was upsetting. California Condors are getting killed because of lead poisoning. Lead can be found in carcasses of animals, which is what they eat. It can also be found in bullets, from which people were trying to shoot at the birds. Birds are just animals. They can't have a real conversation with us, and they can't understand us if we tell them not to eat something. Lead is being found in a place that the animals really just can't control, because they can't become herbivores. They have to eat these carcasses, and we have to try to find a way to help them, and stop shooting at them.

Just pointing this out:

Doesn't the bird in the picture look exactly like the two birds on Splash Mountain, who are sitting above when you are going to the top before the drop? THe ones that are talking about a "laughing place?" Well, yeah.

It is terrible that they are dying because of lead. It is especially upsetting because they have already faced extinction before, and the scientists thought that they fixed it. It is also kind of sad and kind of weird that the only way that the scientists can helped species facing extinction is to put them in captivity. It seems kind of weird, because a lot of animals can die because of captivity. Overall, this was a short, but very informative.

Uh oh. These birds are going extinct. As much as yes, there are many different species of birds, this lead poisoning could spread. Other birds could start getting poisoned, and then where would we get our fried chicken? It is good that they are being kept in captivity and these two states are making new laws.

This is terrible. These poor birds are dying of lead poisoning. When people see the carcasses, there is usually a bullet in them. We have to stop people from shooting these animals. And yes, Izzy, the bird does look like the Splash Mountain bird.
