It is so sad that all of these creatures are linked to North America and that they are endangered. I hope that more people are going into the field of conservation biology because this list is making me really sad.
I posted this link because I feel it is important to know what is going on in our environment, and how many animals we need to help. Just the mammals list is huge! That is not even counting birds and amphibians and reptiles and all of the cold blooded animals out there.
If anyone would like to help me, I would like to go to the library and research these animals to see if there are any people helping them. We could make a book of our research and show it to Ms. Ghazarian and Ms. Thomas.
I am so sad about these animals. Please help them!

I completely agree with Gracie that this is really upsetting. Are we causing this? Are building agricultural area on these poor animals' territory. Why is there such a long list of endangered things? Why are some of them in California but nobody told us about them?
But, what happens to scare me the most is the fact we are also mammals, but since we are the dominant mammals we aren't going extinct. This whole idea started up when I went to this camp that was really fun, it was a Natural History Museum camp called "Nature." So, I went there for a week and during that whole week, we were at the La Brea tar pits. We actually discussed animals being extinct like the Saber-Tooth Cat and the Wooly Mammoth, but when discussing this, the man leading the discussion said something about how if something bad happened where a lot cattle died, which would deeply affect the cattle population, some of us wouldn't be able to each as much. And as one part of the food chain falls, other parts of it do, too. And, since we eat so many different animals, we would be the first to become extinct some of the small animals die.
We also probably contribute to extinction somewhat by eating some "more special" animals, but we don't make much of a difference, since a lot of food we eat now is just processed.
We should be helping these animals. We should be finding about how there are going extinct and try to stop is if we can. Overall, I loved this article. It really made me think about what is going on in the "mammals on Earth" world.

This is, as Izzy and Gracie have said, terrible. I counted, and 2310 animals are on this list, and it does not even include Hawaii. Most of these were in the US and Mexico. I know that it is sad, but I am not surprised. The world is becoming a more industrial place. The two main factors are hunting and building on the forests. Many places have made hunting illegal, but not all of them. Animals help our entire ecosystem. It is bad for humans that they are killing animals to keep them as trophies. This article is depressing and the madness needs to stop!

I agree with Gracie, Izzy, and Nick that is depressing to see that all of these unique animals are endangered. Looking at the list most of the animals are from Mexico. I think Mexico should do something to help the animals. I was looking through a lot of the animals, and most of them are getting killed by deforestation and hunters. It is obviously our fault, we should prevent and help the animals instead of killing them off. I agree with Nick that the madness needs to stop. Many various primates are on that list, and if we kill them off we are killing off history. I think we should take a field trip or a optional trip over the summer to help these animals. Is there anything that we (as the Mirman School) can do?
We (as people) harm the animals in so many ways. We kill them to make food(in china they eat wild dog), clothes, and other things that we do not need in our daily life. They kill minks to make mink scarfs and other accessories. We destroy their habitat to make our own not needed space. Would you like it if all the extinct animals or any animal species destroyed you habitat? Would you like it if they killed you for something that was not needed for daily life. We need to help the endangered animals...ASAP
