Pee is for Power!

Adebola Duro-Aina (left), Oluwatoyin Faleke (center) and Zainab Bello (right) designed a system that uses urine to produce a fuel. Generators that run on this fuel, rather than gasoline, would avoid spewing carbon monoxide, a toxic pollutant.

WOW! This was so interesting because the hydrogen in pee can be used to power generators. This reminds of how we are just reusing this like astronauts use their urine as water because it is filtered. If we use this, then we can power generators from bathrooms. We could route the urine from the toilet to the generator, while it is being filtered in the pipes. Wow, really awesome, and I find it amazing how we are just improving day by day with technology. A+

I think this is a really cool article, because it could help a lot of people and animals. I think that if we ever run out of gas or other resources we could depend on pee

I think that this is a great find. Pee can also be used in space. There are purifying machines on the space shuttle that filter the pee into drinking water! I think that pee could be a great energy source. I mean, I get why we didn't use this in the Great Energy Debate. We could have a power generator connected to the pipes in the toilet so as soon as somebody peed, it would be turned into electricity. This was a great article.

Cool! This is an amazing find! I remember that I watched Man vs. Wild and he had to drink his urine because he did not have any water. I think this shows that there are many uses for urine that people do not know about. I like the path that Jahan is going on, we could have some sort of pipe that takes the urine, and filters it to make it this gas. Overall, this article was informative and just plain awesome!

This is really cool! I think that this is a really smart idea since you don't exactly have to pay for peeing. But, would the amount of hydrogen be affected by what you ate and drank. If you didn't drink that much water, would it mean that there was less of the hydrogen for the generator to run? This could work in poor countries, but to have enough water in your pee, you need to drink water. Some people don't have access to a water source, while other just can't afford it. I think that this would be smart for people to do if they camping or something. I mean, if you wanted electricity, then why not use something you don't need to buy?

Overall, I think that this is really interesting, yet cool and simple.

It's amazing how we can use pee in so many different ways. It could be used as a fuel, drinking water and even electricity. Scientists developed a system to make a fuel from urine. They do this by taking the water in urine and get hydrogen and oxygen from it. This was such an interesting article and I would give it an A+.

This was amazing! I think that depending on urine would be pretty cool because urine is basically free (other than the price of water), and we have a lot of it. It would be cheap to obtain, possibly even free if everyone has a energy generator that's fueled by pee! If we also used our pee to drink using filters, than we wouldn't have to worry about paying so much water for clean water anyway! Maybe the economy will even get better because they might pay you a little (maybe 10 cents a liter), every time you bring them your urine. I think these girls did a wonderful job, and the idea is great!
