This map, from the United States Geological Survey, shows the age of
bedrock in different regions of North America. Scientists found ancient
water in bedrock north of Lake Superior. This region, colored red, was
formed more than 2.5 billion years ago.

Wow! This is so cool! I can't believe that 1.5 billion-year-old water could hold 1.5 billion-year-old microbes. Anyway, I read some of the comments on the site, and one person said that the microbes probably evolved the same way. I don't think so. First of all, they were never exposed to oxygen. Second of all, they were never exposed to light. I think there could be some really cool life forms down there!!!
Sorry, that last comment was me.
It was Sammie. Sorry again.
I completely agree with Sammie. I can't believe that 1.5 billion-year old water could hold 1.5 billion-year old microbes either! This is information that can lead to the secrets of the earth. Congrats all the scientists ;)
I am kind of confused. I wish this article would have explained the concept of these microbes and everything more thoroughly. Over all I rate this article a B+.
